Cohort 8 Executives Graduated from the Global Leadership Executive Program
(Beijing, China) - On Sept. 30, 2016, 24 executives from Cohort 8 Beijing campus graduated from the 18-month Global Leadership Executive MBA program. The commencement ceremony took place at the U.S. home campus in College Park, Md. More than 70 family members, friends, faculty and staffs of the Smith School attended the ceremony.
Dean Alex Triantis congratulated the executives on their accomplishments and commented on the exceptional positive impression the cohort had left with the faculty who taught them. “Thank you for choosing the Smith School and thank you also for everything you have done to contribute to our community. We hope that you will do it for a long long time…” , he said. Class Valedictorian Kjell Nelson conveyed the message of open mind for learning, open heart for loving, and open road for living in his speech, which highlighted his speech as well as Cohort 8's Capstone week in the U.S.
Commencement came on the heels of a week-long business simulation that challenged students to incorporate all of the frameworks and insights learned during their 18-month EMBA experience in an Action Learning Project. The executives also received certificates from The Washington Campus for successfully completing the graduate residency course "Managing Business, Government, and Public Policy" after attending the intensive one-day program in D.C. The Smith Business School arranged the Cohort to visit the inside of Capitol Hill, which only authorized personnel are allowed. Guided by Congressman Hon. Greg Laughlin, the executives visited the Capitol Dome, House of Representatives and the Senate Appropriations Committee Room.
