At Smith, we’re not all business—our specialty masters students enjoy a wide variety of social events and community-building activities during their time here. The University of Maryland is located in greater College Park—a lively college town with many recreational opportunities. A popular hiker-biker trail runs right through campus and past Lake Artemesia, a great picnicking spot. Neighboring communities offer shopping malls, movie theaters and just about every other amenity you can imagine.
It is also easy for Smith students to experience the sights, sounds, sports, culture and nightlife in Washington, D.C., just a short Metro ride away. Check out concerts from global superstars at the Verizon Center, catch a game featuring one of D.C.’s five major professional sports teams, explore historic Georgetown, or just stroll down the National Mall to visit one of the 11 free Smithsonian Museums and art galleries.
College Park is only a half-hour MARC train ride from Baltimore and Annapolis, where you can walk along the Inner Harbor, take in an Orioles baseball or Ravens football game, and of course try our famous Maryland blue crabs. And New York City and Philadelphia can be reached in a few hours by car.
Student clubs bring industry-specific networking, social and career-building opportunities to students.
